Arena Ipanema Hotel - Rio de Janeiro

4-star hotel 100 meters from Ipanema Beach with rooftop pool and Spanish cuisine

Location & Access

Arena Ipanema Hotel Rio de Janeiro sits 100 meters from Ipanema Beach, with a direct path through the adjacent park to the sand. Copacabana Beach is also within 500 meters, placing guests between two of Rio's most famous shorelines. Nearby attractions include Girl of Ipanema Park and Sugarloaf Mountain, both reachable on foot or by short taxi ride.

Dining

The hotel houses Otaviano, a Spanish restaurant serving dishes made from fine ingredients - paella, salmon with rice and vegetables, and other specialties. A daily breakfast buffet offers fresh fruits, pastries, eggs, and local dishes, though options for gluten-free guests are limited. The rooftop bar serves drinks and a small food menu, with service that can be slow during peak hours.

Wellness & Recreation

Arena Ipanema provides a fitness center with a sauna, steam room, and solarium, though the gym is small - only two treadmills (one often broken) and a multi-gym machine. The rooftop pool is open year-round, offering a shallow end, pool bar, and sun loungers with views of the beach and Dois Irmãos hill. Guests can also use the sun terrace and relax on sun loungers or beach chairs.

Services & Events

Hotel Arena Ipanema offers meeting and banquet facilities for corporate and social events, with personalized service for groups. A 24-hour front desk provides concierge service, currency exchange, luggage storage, and tour desk assistance. Pet-friendly policies allow small pets in guest rooms, with pet bowls and baskets available upon request.

Accommodations

Each room at Arena Ipanema Hotel includes a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a private bathroom with shower, and free toiletries. Some rooms offer city views, but noise isolation is poor - guests often hear conversations and snoring from neighboring rooms. Room service is available 24 hours, and daily housekeeping keeps rooms clean, though sheet changes occur every three days unless requested.
